Québec Education Program

Subjects & Programs

Faith Christian Academy provides its educational services in accordance with the Québec Education Program (QEP/PFEQ). Teaching and learning in each prescribed subject are planned and delivered in accordance with the applicable Progression of Learning and Ministry of Education requirements.

Depending on the student’s grade level and academic pathway, FCA offers the applicable prescribed subjects and programs.

Languages

English Language Arts

English Language Arts is FCA’s language-of-instruction program. Students develop competencies in reading and interpreting texts, producing written and media texts, and communicating effectively in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning.

Français, langue seconde

Students develop competencies in oral communication, reading and writing in French in accordance with the prescribed Français, langue seconde program and applicable Progression of Learning.

Mathematics

Students develop mathematical competencies and acquire the concepts and processes prescribed by the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning.

At the applicable levels of Secondary Cycle Two, FCA offers the applicable prescribed mathematics pathways:

• Mathematics: Cultural, Social and Technical Option (CST)
• Mathematics: Science Option (SN)

Science and Technology

Depending on the student’s grade level and academic pathway, FCA offers the applicable prescribed science and technology programs.

Science and Technology (ST)

Students develop scientific and technological competencies through investigation, problem-solving, experimentation and the study of prescribed scientific and technological concepts in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning.

Applied Science and Technology (AST)

At the applicable secondary level, students following the Applied Science and Technology pathway develop scientific and technological competencies through practical applications, technological analysis, design, experimentation and problem-solving in accordance with the Québec Education Program.

Environmental Science and Technology (EST)

At the applicable secondary level, eligible students pursuing advanced science studies complete Environmental Science and Technology in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Ministry requirements.

Chemistry - Secondary V

Chemistry is offered to eligible Secondary V students who meet the applicable prerequisites. Students develop scientific competencies through the study of prescribed chemistry concepts, laboratory work, experimentation, analysis, and problem-solving in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Ministry requirements.

Physics - Secondary V

Physics is offered to eligible Secondary V students who meet the applicable prerequisites. Students develop scientific competencies through the study of prescribed physical phenomena, laboratory investigation, mathematical analysis, and problem-solving in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Ministry requirements.

Social Sciences

Elementary

Geography, History and Citizenship Education

Elementary students develop an understanding of social and territorial organization, change over time, and citizenship in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning.

Secondary Cycle One

• Geography - Secondary I and II
• History and Citizenship Education - Secondary I and II

Secondary Cycle Two

• History of Québec and Canada - Secondary III and IV
• Contemporary World - Secondary V
• Financial Education - Secondary V

Culture and Citizenship in Québec (CCQ)

Students examine cultural realities and questions related to citizenship while developing critical thinking and dialogue skills. Teaching and evaluation follow the competencies and requirements prescribed by the Québec Education Program.

Personal Orientation Project (POP)

Students explore their interests, aptitudes and aspirations while discovering educational and career possibilities. Through individual exploration processes and experiential learning, students develop greater self-knowledge and their capacity to make informed academic and career choices in accordance with the Québec Education Program.

Physical Education and Health

Students develop competencies related to movement, interaction with others in physical activity, and the adoption of a healthy, active lifestyle in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning.

Physical Education and Health activities are provided through access to appropriate indoor gym facilities as well as outdoor environments, including local parks and natural spaces, according to the activities and learning objectives being taught.

Arts Education

Faith Christian Academy provides Arts Education in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning. The arts programs offered vary according to the student’s educational level.

Elementary - Visual Arts and Drama

Elementary students participate in Visual Arts and Drama, developing creativity, artistic expression, appreciation and the applicable subject-specific competencies in accordance with the Québec Education Program and Progression of Learning.

Secondary - Music

Secondary students participate in Music, developing competencies in creating, performing and appreciating musical works in accordance with the Québec Education Program and applicable Progression of Learning.

Evaluation of Learning

Student learning is evaluated in accordance with the competencies and evaluation requirements prescribed by the Québec Education Program and applicable Ministry evaluation frameworks. Student achievement is communicated through report cards in accordance with applicable Ministry requirements.

Students participate in compulsory Ministry examinations and other prescribed evaluations at the applicable grade levels and in the applicable subjects, in accordance with Ministry requirements.

Student Support and Educational Success

Faith Christian Academy provides academic support and appropriate educational interventions to assist students in progressing toward the competencies and learning expectations prescribed by the Québec Education Program.

Where appropriate, students may receive additional support through Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), remedial instruction, resource support, targeted academic interventions, and additional instructional or recovery time. These measures are implemented according to identified student needs and are intended to support student progress, educational success, and the development of prescribed competencies.

FCA works collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, resource personnel, and other professionals, where applicable, to identify appropriate support measures and monitor student progress.

FCA Christian Formation & Enrichment

In addition to the prescribed Québec Education Program, Faith Christian Academy provides Christian formation and enrichment opportunities that support students’ spiritual, personal, social and intellectual development.

Bible Education

Students explore biblical texts, Christian teachings and values and their application to everyday life.

Chapel

Students participate in opportunities for worship, prayer, reflection, teaching and community-building.

Psychology & Personal Development

Students participate in age-appropriate learning opportunities designed to encourage self-awareness, interpersonal skills, emotional understanding, healthy relationships and personal responsibility.

Field Trips & Experiential Learning

Educational outings and hands-on experiences extend classroom learning and provide opportunities for students to engage with their community and environment.

Community Service

Students are encouraged to serve others through school and community initiatives that foster compassion, responsibility and meaningful community involvement.

Leadership Development

Students are provided with opportunities to develop communication, teamwork, initiative, responsibility, decision-making and leadership skills.
